Submit, vote on and discuss an idea
Describe a specific business problem, add prioritisation context and build the evidence with colleagues.
A useful idea describes the problem and its effect before proposing a product. Search the board first so votes, comments and evidence accumulate on one record instead of being split across duplicates.
Before you start
• You need access to the workspace Ideas area.
• Know who is affected, how often the problem occurs and what the current workaround costs or risks.
Step by step
1. Check for an existing idea
Return to Ideas and search visually using process area, category and sorting. If the same problem already exists, vote and add your evidence there.
2. State the problem
Select Submit idea and enter a short, specific answer to What is the problem? Avoid using a vendor name as the problem unless the issue is genuinely vendor-specific.
3. Add useful context
In Tell us more, explain what happens today, who is affected, the business cost or risk and what has already been tried.
4. Classify the idea
Choose the affected process area and, when the workspace has defined them, a category. These fields make filtering and later triage more reliable.
5. Estimate impact and frequency
Choose Low, Medium, High or Critical impact and state whether the issue happens daily, weekly, monthly or occasionally. Use the closest defensible choice rather than overstating urgency.
6. Submit and collaborate
Select Submit idea. Open the new record to vote, read comments and add follow-up evidence. Colleagues can vote independently and discuss the same record.
What happens next
• Share the idea link with colleagues who have relevant evidence.
• Move it to Reviewing when an authorised owner begins triage.
Troubleshooting
Submit idea stays unavailable or reports a validation error.
A clear title is required and must fit the displayed limit. Complete the title, remove unusually long pasted text and submit again.
The category you need is not listed.
Categories are workspace-managed. Submit with the nearest process area or no category, then ask an administrator to create the reusable category if needed.
A vote appears not to change the total.
Wait for the action to complete and refresh the idea. Each member has one reversible vote, so selecting an idea you already voted for removes that vote.
