Disqovr vs Tropic
The short answer
Tropic and Disqovr sit on opposite sides of the purchase. Tropic positions itself around SaaS spend management and renewal negotiation — the software you already own. Disqovr runs the evaluation that decides what to buy in the first place, and produces a weighted, auditable decision record. They are complements far more often than alternatives: choose with one, manage the contract with the other.
What Disqovr does
Structured evaluation of software you have not bought yet, ending in a decision you can defend.
What Tropic does
SaaS spend management and renewal negotiation across software you already own.
Disqovr vs Tropic, side by side
| Disqovr | Tropicas they position it | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it sits in the buying cycle | Before the purchase — requirements through to a signed-off decision. | After the purchase — the estate you already own, and its renewals. |
| Who it is for | The team choosing the software: IT, HR, ops, finance, procurement — together, in one process. | Positioned at finance and procurement managing SaaS spend. |
| How requirements are captured | A shareable stakeholder survey scores capabilities on importance and current satisfaction and auto-prioritises them into a MoSCoW baseline. | Outside how they describe their product. Ask them where requirements gathering fits, if at all, in their workflow. |
| How vendors respond | A structured capability grid completed in a portal branded as yours — no vendor account required. | Outside how they describe their product. Ask them how supplier questionnaires are handled. |
| Negotiation | Not offered. Disqovr records the commercials you evaluated on; it does not negotiate on your behalf and does not publish price benchmarks. | Describes renewal negotiation as a core part of the product. |
| What comes out | A weighted composite score, an audit trail, a business case and a board-ready export. | Outside how they describe their product. Ask them what the primary output is — spend visibility, a renegotiated contract, or something else. |
| Pricing | A flat monthly subscription for the whole workspace, billed monthly or annually — never per user. Each tier includes a set number of active projects; every tier and its price is on our pricing page, and you can start a 14-day free trial with no card and no sales call. A tier priced “Custom” is quoted on a call. | Ask them — we do not quote another vendor’s pricing. |

When Tropic is the better choice
- Your problem is the software you already own: too many tools, renewals arriving unmanaged, spend nobody can see.
- You want help renegotiating a contract that already exists.
- What to buy was settled long ago and is not in question.
When Disqovr is the better choice
- You have not chosen yet, and several teams have to agree on what good looks like.
- You need to show how the decision was reached, to a board or an auditor.
- Today the process is a requirements spreadsheet and a shared inbox.
Ask both vendors these
We will not tell you what another product cannot do. These are the questions that actually separate them — put them to us and to Tropic, and compare the answers.
- 1Where in the buying cycle does this product start, and where does it stop?
- 2How do the people who will use the software get a say, and is that captured as data?
- 3What is the artefact at the end — a report, a contract record, a negotiated price?
- 4Can we export everything if we leave?
Common questions
- Is Disqovr an alternative to Tropic?
- Usually not — they solve different problems. Tropic positions itself around SaaS spend management and renewal negotiation for software you already own. Disqovr is a software-selection platform: it runs the evaluation that decides what to buy. Plenty of teams would sensibly use both, at different points in the same purchase.
- Does Disqovr manage SaaS spend or negotiate renewals?
- No. Disqovr records the commercial terms captured during the evaluation and puts the winner into a register with a renewal or re-evaluation date, so the choice gets revisited on time. It is not a spend-management tool and it does not negotiate on your behalf.
- Can we use Disqovr and a spend-management tool together?
- Yes, and the handover is clean. Disqovr produces the decision record and the commercial terms you evaluated against; a spend tool picks it up from contract signature onwards.
