Configure weights and scoring modes
Choose unscored, equal or weighted evaluation scoring and understand project stream weights.
Scoring operates at more than one level. An evaluation can be unscored, score questions equally or apply question and section weights. The project then combines evidence streams such as RFI, demo, stakeholder and sandbox using relative stream weights. Configure the form first, preview the result and change live scoring only with a documented reason.
Before you start
• Define which criteria are decision drivers and which are informational before assigning any number.
• Confirm that response-set values run in the intended direction and that not-applicable behaviour is understood.
Step by step
1. Choose the evaluation mode
In the evaluation builder, use unscored for evidence-only forms, equal when each scored question should contribute alike, or weighted when importance genuinely differs.
2. Set question weights
For weighted forms, assign relative importance to scored questions. Avoid false precision; explain large differences in question guidance or evaluation documentation.
3. Balance section weights
Open section weighting and ensure weighted sections total 100. Check sections containing N/A or unscored questions so the result behaves as intended.
4. Preview sample outcomes
Test strong, weak, mixed and not-applicable responses. Confirm the displayed total and score direction before publishing the form.
5. Review workspace defaults
Workspace admins set default project stream weights in Settings → Scoring. These relative values guide new project configuration and do not need to add to 100.
6. Set project stream weights
Use Project settings → Stages & scoring for project-specific RFI, demo, stakeholder, sandbox or other supported streams. Recalculate only when the project intentionally needs current evidence recomputed.
What happens next
• Publish a new evaluation version when a weight change affects future assignments.
• Record project-level changes before reviewing comparison so decision makers understand why totals moved.
Troubleshooting
Section weights cannot be saved
For a weighted evaluation, make the scored section weights total exactly 100 and resolve incomplete or duplicate values.
Changing workspace defaults did not alter an existing project
Workspace values are defaults. Open that project’s Stages & scoring settings and update its explicit stream weights if authorised.
A score changed after recalculation
Check response values, form version, N/A handling and project stream weights. Use the audit history and document any intentional scoring change.
